Pastor Ken Varner

My name  is Ken Varner.  I am the senior pastor of Westway Baptist Church.  I am blessed to lead the people at Westway Baptist Church and the community of Hereford.  I love people and I believe with God's help and the Holy Spirit powers, we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us.

One of my favorite scripture passages!

  Psalms 121 1-8

1. I lift up my eyes to the hills.

From where does my help come?

2. My help comes from the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

3. He will not allow your foot to slip;

your Protector will not slumber.

4. Behold, the Protector of Israel

will not slumber or sleep.

5.  The LORD is your keeper;

the LORD is the shade on your right hand.

6.  The sun will not strike you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7.  The LORD will guard you from all evil;

He will preserve your soul.

8.  The LORD will watch over your coming and going,

both now and forevermore.  Amen!!

My name is Vicky Varner, known as Ms. Vicky.  I teach Children's Ministry here at Westway Baptist Church.  The children are our future.  We believe that our children need to be fed in the Word.  We have a lesson and a craft each Sunday during Children's Church.  We believe that our children should be equipped with the spiritual weapons they will need, to fight spiritual battles today and in their future.  Our goal is to prepare our children to be mighty warriors of the Lord.  We always have room for more.  Jesus loves the little children of the world.  Jesus said that when leading a child to Christ, "Let the little children come unto me,"  God is not impressed by our ages and he doesn't have any requirements of race, sex or position before they enter His kingdom.  As a children's ministry leader, we need to be comfortable and skillful to lead a child to Jesus.

Our Mission

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Our Mission

Our Mission is to let God develop His Church through the ministry at Westway Baptist Church!

God's Mission for the church proves to have several parts.

1.  The mission of the church is to make disciples.

Just before Jesus returned to heaven, He commissioned His disciples this way:  "Going into all the world, make disciples of all nations by baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you."  Matthew 28:19-20

2.  The mission of the church is to glorify Christ.

Part of God's purpose for the church is to exalt Jesus Christ by the way that the church lives and by what it does.  Christ designed His church to reflect His supernatural, life-saving work to the world.  In His church, Christ shows the world what free and forgiven people can be if they will follow Him.  God has planned the values of the church to be His values.  Ephesians 1:11-12

3.  The mission of the church is to build up the saints.

The church is to encourage and comfort its individual members.  There should be no division in the body and its parts should have equal concern for each other.  Jesus is the Cornerstone and the body of Christ is likened to a building joined together, to be a Holy Temple where God's Spirit lives and dwells.

1 Thessalonians 5:11; 2 Cor. 12:11

The Church is merely many servants joined together to by Gods hands, feet and heart to a hurting world of lost sinners.
